Fing craziness...
Sorry about JABBICWOMOHLIGO... Sarah's grandma went into the hospital on Friday, so that kinda took up Friday, plus working... The problem is, she's supposed to have back surgery tomorrow, but she can't if she's not well enough to. It's just crazy right now. But I am working on getting my first review up here. I promise it's on it's way through the craziness. Take care.Wednesday, July 20, 2005

This Just In...
I just decided I'm going to start "Judge A Book By It's Cover Week" (or Month, or however long it goes on). Except it's going to be CDs, not books. I hope to definitively find out whether or not one can in fact Judge A Book By It's Cover. Here are the rules...The CD must be one I am not familiar with. The artist I can be. It could be a CD that I own, but haven't really listened to, or one that I've heard, but not "heard." Just not one I'm familiar with. I'm hoping that it will all be new stuff. The following categories will be used...
Artist Name
Album Name
Description of Cover/Packaging
First impression
Side notes (band members/related artists/record label/etc.)
General "genre"
Impression after listening
Short review
I'm sure I'll find a lot of shit, but maybe I'll find something along the lines of The Late Greats' "Turpentine" or K-Settes starring Butcher's Blind. So tune in. "Judge A Book By It's Cover Week" (or Month, or however long it goes on) (also known as J.A.B.B.I.C.W.O.M.O.H.L.I.G.O aka jabbicwomohligo) starts tomorrow.
Feel free to send me suggestions (CDs that you've seen and thought by the cover you may like, but never got around to listening to). I will try to find them at the library.
P.S. If you can ever get a job at a library (especially one where you work within 20 feet of the music section all day, you should take it. It allows you to play fun little games like this.
It just so turns out that I don't really like many people...
Holy hot shit, I'm back. Sorry for the delay. Haven't felt like "smacking this bitch up" lately. A lot has happened since the last time. Big news, a week and a half late, is that we got the Apartment Manager job, so yes, that means free rent. Woo. My parents came up to visit (two weekends ago). Had a nice weekend with them. Sarah got a bike. My parents brought up my bike when they came to visit. Riding bikes. I got a practice space last Thursday. Played for two and a half hours Friday. This past weekend we went to Baraboo/Reedsburg/Wisconsin Dells for my Grandma's Surprise 80th Birthday party. That was fun. Won $150 bucks at Ho-Chunk. Played drums yesterday. Working.New cds: Bob Dylan "New Morning" through YourMusic. Fan-fucking-tastic, that website. $5.99/cd. No taxes (here in WI), no shipping. Just buy one a month. Not many months when I don't buy 1 cd. Yeah.
Also new cds: "On My Way To Absence" by Damien Jurado (On My Way To Absinthe would have been a better name), "Thickfreakness" by The Black Keys, and "Slanted and Enchanted" by Pavement. All good.
What's this shit about The Onion strike?
Um. What else, what else?
I'm really tired. I haven't had a weekend that wasn't crazy busy since before Marcus' wedding. I need a nap.
Oh, and I got my new phone and it's good. Good.
Started reading the new Harry Potter recently. Started also reading Learning How to Die (a book about Wilco, not The Wilco Book though) by Greg Kot.
That's the readers indigestion version. VOR!
I really feel like posting more, but I can't keep my eyes open. It's 1:27 p.m. and I'm at work. I need a nap... tonight.
Also, if you don't already know, Mike's blog has been busy lately. It's funny, even for a White Christian Conservative Man from Texas. All love.
Now Playing: "Singapore" off of Rain Dogs by Tom Waits.
Holy hot shit... More later.

Holy everloving shi...
Geez. It's been almost a week since I posted. I'm really sucking this up. Although, I have been pretty busy for the past few weeks. Here's some quick news for you.Move went well, still getting unpacked. E-mail me if you want the address to send me a postcard or something.
Got new cell phone. New cell phone started sucking. New cell phone sucks all the way now. The mic is apparently broken or some shit, cause it's not working at all. New new phone coming today. Better phone.
Got (sun)burned pretty badly Saturday on a pontoon boat. Swam a lot. Fell asleep early.
Saw Dan, Trish, Brian, Dan, Cory, Rick, Jay, Ashley, Mark, Miles, and others on Sunday. Her Majestey's Ship- better than I expected. The Wandering Sons own the world. By the way, Dan, you can use that quote ("The Wandering Sons own the world."). It's cool. New EP really good. Damn, so good.
Might be getting a practice space finally to ease my insanity. It sucks not playing (drums) at all. Whoop.
Parents coming to visit this weekend.
So that's about all the news that matters. Watched Garden State again last night. Own it now. It's so good. Watched the first season of Scrubs once since I bought it. Started it again over the weekend. So good.
Been listening to a lot of music lately. New White Stripes=unfuckingbelievable. Need to get some more CD's. Should find out this week about free rent. If we do get free rent, I'll finally be able to get caught up on some of the "I can't believe you don't have that" records I need. Also, from the window in the office here at work I can see some of the CD shelves. One CD in particular stands out (it's bigger, actually a box-set of sorts). It's called "From Where I Stand: The Black Experience in Country Music." I think I'm going to check it out today. Which reminds me, I saw Ghost World the other night too. Pretty good. If you've seen it, sweet. If not, worth seeing, especially renting it for free from your local library.
I need to put the new The White Stripes (Get Behind Me Satan) and The Wandering Sons (Darken Your Door EP) discs on my iPod. Gotta take some stuff off the iPod. Gotta find the next record that blows my mind. Get Behind Me Satan blew my mind, that's for sure. But I listened to it maybe too much for about 10 days. Not that it doesn't own, but I want to find another record that destroys me. Let me know what you think. That's it for now...
In the immortal words of me... More later.
Now playing: (it was The Shins "Chutes Too Narrow" during much of this post but now it's going to be... Leadbelly's Last Session- all four discs)
