So goodbye, so long, the road calls me dear
I'm likely going to discontinue using this emm-effer. At least I won't be using it much. I will be posting new blogs on myspace. Yep.Wednesday, March 08, 2006
Two-two-two posts in one!
I posted this on MySpace earlier today:I've been seriously slacking in the whole blog department lately. My apologies for that. Things have been pretty crazy, so I'll try to sum up what has been going on in my world lately. A few weeks ago Sarah's mom's car broke down, so Sarah is letting her use her (Sarah's) car. That leaves us with one car and weird schedules. We've actually done alright with it, and neither of us have been stranded too often.
This past weekend we were in Rockford very briefly. My apologies again to everyone I thought I would see and didn't. We got there Saturday morning, hung out with my parents a bit, and had dinner with them. We also did massive amounts of shopping for Riley Paige Choppa. That was fun. I don't want babies, but I like buying stuff for them. So have some babies, y'all. Then Sarah and I went over to Marcus and Holly's and hung out with them a bit. It was great to see them, and Riley is adorable. So tiny. While I'm still trying to wrap my head around Marcus being a father, I'm extremely happy and excited for them. Congrats guys! Also, you should start a MySpace page for Riley. Pictures, historical moments, that kind of thing.
Otherwise... I've officially applied to UW-Oshkosh, so I should be hearing back within a few weeks. I'm not really worried- I'm pretty sure they let almost anyone in. I'm so psyched to go back to school though. I'm really glad that I took the time off and have done everything I've done, but I'm really glad to be able to go back.
Sarah and I are going to Door County this weekend, and I cannot wait! We found this really great lodge in Sister Bay and we'll be there from Saturday morning til Tuesday morning. It will also be our first real vacation together which seems like a momentus occasion. Also, I want to take the time to point out that Sarah has never made me feel bad about not taking her on vacation yet, even when I intended to take her for her birthday a few years ago. She is an amazing person and I'm incredibly lucky.
Well, I suppose that's it for now. I'm sure I'll have some fun new pictures up here soon, so be on the lookout for that.
Also, if you're reading this and I haven't seen you in a while I really want to! Call me.
And then I posted this just a little bit ago:
I've already heard back that I was accepted at UW-Oshkosh. I only applied maybe a week ago! I can't wait!!!
For anyone interested I'll be at Lara's Tortilla Flats on Main Street in Oshkosh around 5:15-7:00 tonight drinking margaritas and eating nachos. Join me if you please.
I'm so excited, I just can't hide it. I'm about to lose control and I think I like it.

Look who's back...
Yes, I'm back for all none of you who still check this. I plan on doing better in the future. Also, anything posted here should be posted on my MySpace blog too, so you don't have to read both. As for what's going on, Sarah and I are engaged since I posted last. She just started school at UW-Oshkosh and I'm planning on starting in the fall. Major in Philosophy, then eventually get my Masters in Library Science, or at least that is the plan so far. Anyways, that's just a segue to post one of my new favorite quotes, and also the reason I'm planning on Majoring in Philosophy..."...What I really lack is to be clear in my mind what I am to do, not what I am to know, except in so far as a certain understanding must precede every action. The thing is to understand myself, to see what God really wishes me to do; the thing is to find a truth which is true for me, to find the idea for which I can live and die. What would be the use of discovering so-called objective truth, of working through all the systems of philosophy and of being able, if required, to review them all and show up the inconsistencies within each system; what good would it do me to be able to develop a theory of the state and combine all the details into a single whole, and so construct a world in which I did not live, but only held up to the view of others; what good would it do me to be able to explain the meaning of Christianity if it had no deeper significance for me and for my life; what good would it do me if truth stood before me, cold and naked, not caring whether I recognized her or not, and producing in me a shudder of fear rather than a trusting devotion?"

The Great iPod Cleaning 2005
Today and the rest of this week shall from hereforth be known as The Great iPod Cleaning 2005. With a low workload, and most of the rest of the people I work with gone this week, I shall be taking the opportunity to remove some stuff from my iPod which I have never listened to once, to make room for some new stuff which has been missing. Some Things That Will Be Deleted From My iPod
1. Hootie and the Blowfish- all of it. Sorry Magers, I don't hate them as much as some people, but I've never listened to them on my iPod and don't see that changing anytime soon.
2. A bunch of stuff that I got from the library but is severly scratched and not worth the space. Some might be replaced eventually.
3. Some jazz stuff which I still have in original form or on my computer, but which I don't find myself listening to often.
4. All my Jimi Hendrix, because it all skips, even though some of the cd's don't skip at all. This will be finding it's way back on once I deal with this problem.
Some Things That Will Not Be Deleted From My iPod, Though Some Might Think They Should
1. Ignition (Remix) by R. Kelly. On my iPod until the day I die.
2. Loads and loads of jazz which I still have in original form or on my computer which I don't find myself listening to often, but should.
3. Brian Regan.
4. Anything involving myself, Andrew Bixby, Drew Bixby, or me. In any combination.
5. Everything on my iPod that I don't actually own, and thus am pirating, I mean if there were such things which there's not so don't arrest me.
Things Which Are Walking A Tight Rope To Maintain Their Spot On My iPod
1. Nick Cave/Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds stuff that I got from the library that is scratched, but I still try to listen to anyways.
2. Guns N Roses.
3. Some random stuff which I only have one or two songs per artist and while it will not free up much space, it doesn't really serve much of a purpose.
4. Pete Yorn
5. A bunch of live bootleg stuff of varying qualities which in some cases are missing one or two songs, but which takes away from the bigger picture.
Things Which Will Be Finally Finding Their Home On My iPod
1. Spoon "Gimme Fiction"
2. Wolf Parade "Apologies to Queen Mary" (these last two I just recently got, but are so good they should have gone on right away)
3. The rest of my Morrissey and The Smiths records which aren't on there yet (You Are The Quarry, Viva Hate, Bona Drag, the The Smiths record with Asleep, Best II)
4. Iron and Wine "Our Endless Numbered Days"
5. HIM "Love Metal" (weird right, but I like it)
6. Zero 7 (the record with the song from the Garden State soundtrack on it)
7. A bunch of other stuff which I do actually own and desire at different points through-out the day (at work) to listen to.
Sorry, those lists were pretty much for me. But this is the internet, so you have to read it.
Also, my new name is Flybeard the Sailor. Beard status: Good.
